Central Midlands Football League: Welbeck hammered by Newark, while Eastwood Community stage superb fightback

The Newark side, which included three 16 year-olds, scored through a Dom Swingler hat-trick, two from Joe as well as goals from Cody Donnelly, Ian Hillier, Craig Roche and Joe Powell. Welbeck’s goal came from a Danny Ryan penalty.

Thorne Colliery and Phoenix joined Appleby Frodingham as early pacesetters, with all three teams having maximum points from their opening three games. The comeback of the day was in the Black Dragon Badges South division at Coronation Park, where Eastwood Community fought back from three goals behind to rescue a point against Sherwood Colliery.

The Notts side were two up at the break, both goals coming from Triston Burrell, and went three up on 47 minutes through Lucan Barker.

Dave Worger pulled one back for the home side before Lee Easom restored the three goal advantage on the hour.

The turning point came in the 73rd minute with Eastwood keeper Edward Ridley’s penalty save, which inspired the home team’s revival.

Matt Brian scored twice and Ndregim Krashiqi added one to make the final score 4-4.

Hucknall Town travelled to Mickleover RBL and picked up their second win with a 4-0 victory.

Ben Waplington opened the scoring on 10 minutes, before Aaron Evans doubled the lead on the stroke of half time.

Further goals from Kajally Danso and Adam Nelson in the second period sealed the victory.

Hucknall Rolls also scored four, with three in the second half sending Pinxton home pointless on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline.

Tom Ellis gave Pinxton the lead, but two goals from Jack Smith and one each for Rory Smith and Kane Matthews pushed Rolls up to third spot.

Linby Colliery made their season debut with a 1-1 draw against Swanwick Pentrich Road, who now have three draws to their credit.

After a goal-less first 45 minutes Kaylum Mitchell broke the deadlock on 50 minutes for Linby, before Andy White levelled things 20 minutes later.

The four matches in the reserve division produced 20 goals between them. Blidworth Welfare were 4-0 winners over Eastwood Community, Max Radford (2), Alex Raynor and Tom Hunt with the goals.

Graham Street Prims picked up all three points at Radford as they came out on top with a 4-2 win. Prims scorers were Michael Jukka with a hat-trick and Joe Condon with Liam Honeyman and Andrew Richards replying for the home side.

Hucknall Town shaded things at Swanwick, winning 3-2. Hucknall’s scorers were Romeo Mugadza, Kieran Beales and Mark Poyser, with Gareth Ellis and David Robinson on target for the Swans.

Teversal saw off Belper United 4-1 thanks to two goals from Kyle Hempshall, and one each for Craig Burton and Josh Radford.
