There were however two matches in the Black Dragon Badges South division, one of which produced a shock result.

Belper United, one of only two unbeaten teams in the whole league finally met their match in next to bottom Collingham, who overturned the form book to pull off a 2-0 win at Christchurch Meadow.

Euan Morris and Jon Jo Mcgovern were the heroes as the visitors registered only their second win of the season.

The other game was dogged with problems from the start. After kick off was delayed to 8.20pm after problems caused by traffic queues following an accident, Hucknall Town’s match with Matlock Town Reserves reached half time with Hucknall leading through a Niall Thompson goal.

As the players lined up for the start of the second half, off went half of the floodlights. Twice more the lights came on, the players went out and so did the lights, before the referee called it a day at 9.35pm.

In the cup competitions, there was success in the Notts Senior Cup for Ollerton Town at Clifton All Whites.

Kye Pilmore gave Ollerton the lead on the stroke of half term and it seemed that would be decisive, but the home side equalised in stoppage time at the end of the 90 minutes.

Kyle Clarkson restored the lead in extra time, but again Clifton levelled things late on. Ollerton held their nerve during the penalty shootout to make it to round two.

Bulwell came up against AFC Mansfield, but in another high-scoring game at Greenwich Avenue, they went down 6-2, Jake Fisher and Jay Knight getting the goals.

The Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup provided success for Phoenix who inflicted further cup misery on Dinnington Town winning 9-0 at Laughton Road.

Rob Gorman led the way with four goals with Steve McDonnell adding a hat trick, James Lawton and James Cregan also scoring.

Brodsworth Welfare also progressed, a single goal seeing them through against Frecheville Community. Bentley Colliery led step 6 side Rossington Main until the 67th minute with goals from Lee Winterman and Dan Reid, but conceded five in the latter stages, going down 6-2.

Easington United also had an evening to forget in the East Riding County Cup, Hull United proving too big an obstacle with the final score 9-1, Dec Precious getting on the scoresheet for the Eastenders.
