Central Midlands round-up: Sherwood Colliery drop to second despite winning after Eastwood Community hit Holbrook St Michaels for six

The last unbeaten record in the league fell on Saturday as Swanwick Pentrich Road went down 2-1 at Selston in the Black Dragon Badges South division ending a 23 match unbeaten run for the Swans stretching back to last February.

Selston left it very late however, Carl Moore’s 90th minute goal proving decisive after Aaron Brady had scored the opener for the home side, Shane Buckerfield pulling the goal back for the visitors.

Eastwood Community lead the table on goal difference from Sherwood Colliery after a 6-1 defeat of Holbrook St Michaels. There were hat tricks here for Warren Hatfield and Matt Bryan, five of the goals coming in the second half, Holbrook’s goal coming from the penalty spot.

Sherwood’s winning margin was more modest, Lee Easom scoring the only goal of the game at Pinxton in the first 45 minutes.

Belper United returned to winning ways, moving up to third after beating Matlock Town Reserves 3-1 at Christchurch Meadow. Ben Stockley’s two and one from Dan Williams secured the points, Jack Siddall scoring for Matlock.

Hucknall Town slipped to fifth in the table after a 3-2 defeat at Clay Cross Town, a result which moves the Millers up into fourth place. Jordan Hendley and Nathan Jessop put the home side two up before Niall Thompson pulled one back on 65 minutes.

A minute later Danny Robinson restored the two goal lead, and despite Thompson’s second, the points stayed in Derbyshire. Collingham couldn’t build on their impressive midweek win at Belper, going down 3-0 to Hucknall Rolls, the goals coming from Jack Allen, Rory Smith and Chay Betteridge.

Keyworth United gained maximum points for only the second time this season, their 4-2 win over Bulwell including a brace of goals each for Sam Wood and Daniel Gallagher, Conor Carter and Jake Fisher scoring for the Bulls.

A crowd in three figures was at Church Lane to see Blidworth Welfare come from behind to beat Linby Colliery 2-1. Kaylum Mitchell put Linby ahead on 18 minutes, but Max Curzon equalised before Ben Rogers won it with a spectacular effort from all of 50 yards.

Mickleover RBL completed a quick double over Southwell City at Bishops Drive. After a goalless first half, two from Mthabisi Mlauzi and one for Jamie Carter gave the Legion a three goal win, a result which leaves Southwell adrift with just a single point to their name.

Ollerton Town crowned a good week by claiming the scalp of leaders Appleby Frodingham in the Black Dragon Badges North division. An early strike from Jamie Charlton was added to by a Kyle Clarkson free kick to put the home side two up at the break. Frod could only manage a late goal from Paul Tait, as they went down to their second defeat of the season.

With Phoenix having their game postponed, Retford took the opportunity to move into second place with a 3-0 defeat of Bentley Colliery, the goals coming from Jason Swannack, Ben Marro and Luke Tong. Top marksman of the day was Askern’s Michael Attard who scored four times in his side’s 6-0 thumping of Newark Town. Michael Knifton and Gareth Collinson and Attard put the home side three up at half time, with Attard helping himself to second half hat trick to complete the rout.

Glapwell trailed Bilsthorpe to a 12th minute Dominic Hammond goal until three minutes from half time when Adam Kimberley levelled matters. Not for the first time this season Glapwell found their shooting boots after the break, Josh Parfitt, Mitchell Mullins, Ross Murcott and Lee Jordan all scoring to make the final score 5-1.

The points were shared at Low Farm as Brodsworth Welfare let slip a two goal lead in their match with Easington United. Courtney Peynado and Andy Fairclough put the visitors two up before Anthony Barnett and player-manager Andy Graham scored to secure a point.

Harworth Colliery were 5-1 winners at Welbeck Welfare, Josh Dickinson, James Woodward and an own goal giving them a healthy interval lead. Tom Pick added two in the latter stages, Welbeck also benefiting from an own goal.

Dronfield Town Reserves won by the odd goal in five at Dinnington Town. The scorers here were Alex Jones with two and Matt Hague for Dronfield, Tom Eccleston and Ashley Ruse for Dinnington.

In the YourFootballWorld.com Reserve division Sherwood Colliery lost their unbeaten record as they lost a close encounter with Teversal by five goals to four, despite a Jordan Simpson hat trick. Matt Day was also on target for Sherwood, but they fell to goals from Matt Langley (2), Ryan Atkins, Josh Radford and Daniel Barke.

Blidworth Welfare also scored five, Harry Patrick scoring two, Jon Patrick, Charlie Simpkin and Ben Gaughn getting one each as they beat Holbrook St Michaels 5-2. Radford were 3-2 winners at Harworth Colliery, the goals coming from Tony Wilson, Bruno Afonso and Andrew Richards, Kyle Pashley getting both for Harworth.

There were three ties in the Derbyshire FA Divisional Cup (South). Tom Johnson scored in extra time to see Graham Street Prims reserves home against Sherwin, while Heanor Town reserves beat Borrowash Victoria reserves 5-4 and Swanwick reserves won 4-1 at Mickleover RBL reserves.
