CHAD STAGS PLAYER RATINGS: Collins leads by example against Portsmouth

For me, Lee Collins edged man of the match on Saturday as Mansfield Town were held 1-1 at home by Portsmouth.

But his was only one of several excellent displays on a frustrating afternoon when three points were so desperately needed.

CHAD STAGS RATINGS

Scott Shearer 7 (Another brilliant penalty save and did most things well apart from fumbling a long range second half effort that he managed to get away for the corner. Only question was should he have come and claimed the corner that hit Tafazolli for the equaliser)?

Mal Benning 6 (Decent game overall, less involved in set pieces with Sean Kavanagh’s inclusion).

Krystian Pearce 8 (Solid and dominant at the back as always).

Tafazolli 7 (Defended well all afternoon against a very good team and was helpless for the own goal).

Alfei 6 (Largely did well but his poor tackle on Marc McNulty conceded the penalty).

Lee Collins 8 (Giving a real captain’s performance, defender Collins was for the second successive game playing in an unfamiliar defensive midfield role and was the glue that held this good performance together).

Mitch Rose 8 (A dynamic display from this often overlooked member of the squad, especially in the first half, which won him sponsors’ man of the match. Got through a lot of work and twice came close with long range potshots. He might have crowned his display with a goal had Green not failed to spot him square on a counter-attack).

Chris Clements 7 (Got through a lot of work in the centre of the park).

Sean Kavanagh 6 (Decent delivery from his free kicks but in open play occasionally looked a little lightweight again in challenges and short of full match fitness).

Green 7 (Took his goal tally to 12 with another excellent finish and worked hard all game).

Mani Dieseruvwe 7 (The Chesterfield loanee will be delighted with his debut. The striker was short on match fitness and had only spent two days with his new team mates, but he linked up well with Green, made the ball stick up front more when it was played longer and set up Green for his goal with a hoisted pinpoint pass).

Subs used: Junior Daniel - on for Rose 86mins 5 (no time to stamp his authority on the closing stages).

Matty Blair - on for Kavanagh 63mins 7 (Caused problems for Pompey in his short cameo, seeing one shot blocked and one cross at the end of a good run go through everyone in the box, Dieseruvwe inches away from turning it home).

Jack Thomas - on for Green 78mins 6 (Bursting with energy but very little time on the field to make use if it. Had one exciting run that came to nothing in the end).

Subs not used: Jensen, Chapman, Beardsley, Baxendale.
