Evans revealed last week he was chasing an attacking central midfielder as well as a young striker from one of his previous clubs.

The manager also said offers were coming in for players and one or two could go out, though offers made to buy some of his squad fell below Evans’ valuation.

“We are working hard to add to the group before Thursday night’s 11pm deadline,” he said today.

“The chairman (John Radford) and CEO (Carolyn Radford) have as always been so very supportive.

“None of us should forget the quality of the squad already assembled.”

He continued: “We have received three offers for two different players. I have put forward the case that those offers do not meet the valuation I have on them, the rest lies with the chairman.

“One or two lads not getting the game time may leave - they have that option.

“Do not forget we can still move players out to the National League as they do not work within the transfer window rules.

“I will meet with the chairman and CEO on Wednesday. As always I will give them my advice - they make the call thereafter.”
