Ex Mansfield Town striker backed to inspire Hucknall Town team-mates

Liam Hearn will inspire and help turn his new Hucknall Town team-mates into better players.

The former Mansfield Town striker re-joined the club as player-coach in a bid to bring more firepower to Hucknall.But, perhaps just as importantly, the Bulwell-born player, who is a Uefa A licenced coach, will have a key role in passing on his years of wisdom

“When you sign a player who has played at professional level and a good level in and around the local leagues, he will have a lot to offer,” said Sims.

“He has played at a very good level and hopefully he can bring that kind of experience and firepower that we might have lacked last season.“The first session that he came down to Huckalll, he put on a training session for the lads and it was a really good session.“He did drills we have probably not had a chance to do and I think he will really help to develop players just by playing with him.“He’s a really down to earth and nice guy to get on with as well.”Hearn joined Hucknall in 2003/04 for an 18-month spell and went on to be top goal scorer at Watnall Road.During his debut season at the age of 19 he finished with 16 goals in the Northern Premier League to win the league's Young Player of the Year before going to net 31 goals at Alfreton Town to finish Conference North top scorer and Divisional Player of the Year.
