Ex-Stags boss back in League Two at Carlisle United
Mystified Carlisle fans have speculated for weeks over Holdsworth’s involvement at the club after seeing him at Brunton Park.
Now the club have released a statement saying he had ‘helped’ them in their manager appointment process earlier in the summer, and this had since been extended to ‘helping with recruitment of new playing squad members, in liaison with the new manager’.

United confirmed his involvement with the club has lasted several weeks already, but they would not say whether Holdsworth has an official position or title there, or give any further explanation for his involvement.
Holdsworth, 49, spent less than two seasons in charge at Mansfield between 2008 and 2010 before having his contract cancelled my mutual consent after and his most recent managerial job in football was with non-league outfit Goole Town, which ended in January 2014.
He was certainly known for his work in the transfer market at Mansfield where he signed over 60 players in his two years, leaving the club with a squad of 32 players when he left.
