Fiona O’Sullivan resigns for Notts County Ladies

O’Sullivan joined the Lady Pies from German side FC Freiburg in June, scoring a dramatic late equaliser on her debut against Arsenal live in front of the BT Sport cameras.

The forward then went on to make four more appearances for County, contributing to crucial wins against Chelsea Ladies and Everton Ladies at the end of the season, before netting Notts County’s second goal in the final game of the season as they took a two goal lead against Birmingham.

After putting pen to paper, O’Sullivan spoke of her delight, saying: “Last year I saw a great group of girls who were so supportive both on and off the field.

“I saw a lot of potential in the team with players who were unfortunately injured to come back as well. Rick Passmoor has put together a strong team and we all share the same goals and aims in this league.

“This season I think we can challenge for the top two, or at very least the top four. I always want to win the league and that is always my ultimate aim when I join a football club,

“I have a goal to play in the Champions League and I would love to do that with Notts County, I see a lot in this team to say that we are able to do that.”

Manager Rick Passmoor added: “Fiona made a big impact when she joined us last season. We were always one striker down in our squad from when Ellen White got injured in pre-season and when Fiona came in she made a big difference.

“She’s a tall physical presence and we saw in her appearances last year the trouble she caused the defence, she’s a threat in the air but also has great feet and can cause problems every time we go forward and is a great addition to our squad.”

Fiona originates from California, but represents the Republic of Ireland at international level, making her debut in 2009.

Since making her international bow, the striker has gone on to make 28 appearances, finding the net 11 times, nine of which came in competitive fixtures.
