He once plied his trade for Hucknall Town’s Saturday side. Now he is the scourge of HUCKNALL TOWN SUNDAY in the Notts Sunday Morning League’s Premier Division.
That’s prolific striker Jake Fisher, whose hat-trick helped title-chasing Nuthall inflict an 8-1 hammering on bottom-of-the-table Town.
The Yellows’ recent improvement came to nought as Fisher opened the scoring in the 16th minute and followed up to give the hosts a four-goal cushion at the break after other strikes from Ryan Johnson and Colin Brown. Elliott Christie pulled one back but Callum Smith, Tian Walton and Tyrone Burton struck before Fisher’s late third.
BUOYED by their derby win over Barflys H2O the previous week, ATHLETICO T8’S celebrated another fine result in Premier Division One when holding promotion-pushing Stratford Haven to a 3-3 draw.
Athletico trailed 2-0 at the break, but levelled through Andrew McKenzie and Martyn Smith and then, after Stratford thought they’d bagged a late winner, Max Thornley scored a deserved equaliser at the death.
No such joy in the same division for THE EMPIRE, who slid to a 4-1 defeat, even though Edwalton played most of the game with ten men after an injury to their top scorer, Frazer White. Empire’s consolation goal came in the last minute from Scott Corah.
THE promotion chances of THE NABB INN and BESTWOOD MINERS WELFARE were boosted by victories in the Senior Second Division.
Nabb won 3-1 at Bridgford Taverners, while Bestwood exacted revenge for a shock defeat against bottom team Real United Sunday earlier in the month. This time they won 4-2 thanks to goals from Rocky Bennett-Bull (2), Luke Mitchell and Nathan Robinson.
