TWO fine away wins ensured that HUCKNALL TOWN RESERVES finished their maiden season strongly in the Central Midlands League’s Reserves Premier Division.
After a 1-0 success at Mickleover Royal British Legion Reserves in midweek, Town won a seven-goal thriller 4-3 at Swanwick Pentrich Road Reserves to climb into third place in the table. Mark Poyser, Josh Henrys and Ethan Barnes were all on target, with an own goal swinging the points the Yellows’ way.
GOALS were also the flavour of the day in the Notts Senior League’s First Division where LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES were involved in a nine-goal spectacular at home to Southwell City Reserves.
Irresistible striker Luke Price netted yet another hat-trick to take his tally for the season to 38, while Chaz Niblett and Darren Dickens bagged the other two goals in a 5-4 victory for the Church Lane outfit.
However, with three league games to play, it’s now nip and tuck whether Linby can finish above their arch rivals, HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE RESERVES, who bounced back to form with back-to-back victories over Wollaton Reserves.
Last midweek, Rolls triumphed 2-1 in the away fixture, courtesy of strikes by Ashley Dove and first-teamer Chay Bettridge, plus a man-of-the-match performance by Jamie Thomas.
And they followed up last Saturday with a 4-2 win that lifted them a point above Linby in sixth position. All four goals were scored by the club’s record-breaking marksman Andy Start.
