Football round-up: Ravenshead go top of MAA Division One

FC Trinity surrendered third spot to Moorgreen following their 2-1 defeat by NRUFC, whose goals came from Liam Christian and Barney Watson.

Woodborough United are the new leaders of the Premier Division following their last minute victory at the expense of Bestwood MWSC.

At the other end of the table Wollaton III are still without a point to their name after going down 4-2 to fourth placed Radcliffe Olympic III.

Despite being reduced to 10 men early in their game with Trent Vineyard, Rainworth Rangers went on to win 6-2 and are level on points with Olympic.

Graham Beavis’ two penalties were added to by Tom Barnes, Kyle Sargeant, Matt Hope and Luke Whitmore.

Meanwhile AFC South Wingfield 93 equalled Amateurs’ goal tally against Old Elizabethans III, who replied with four goals of their own.

However, their goalscoring feat was matched by Jason Miles for the winners, whose other goals came from Jake Baranow, Kieran Ferguson and Chris Evans. OEs’ replies came from Ryan Marshall, Sean Smith together with a Jon Rowbotham double.

Surprisingly Southwell St Mary’s bettered the other high scorers by hammering Nottinghamshire III 9-1 and MAFC achieved the same scoreline against Alvaston United, whose consolation goal was scored by Mark Holzman.

In contrast a single strike was all that Old Bemrosians needed to claim all three points at the expense of Sunnydale.

In the FA National Sunday Carlsberg Cup first round, Bilsthorpe Celtic, of the Chad Mansfield Sunday League progressed with a 3-1 victory against Nuthall with strikes by G. King, L. Black, G. Harris.

Notts Senior League Division One leaders Kirton Brickworks were held 3-3 at home by mid-table Underwood Villa.

Southwell City Reserves won with the only goal of their game with Bingham Town.

Sandhurst drew their Senior Division game at Awsworth Villa 2-2 while Selston saw off Radford 3-0.

Sandhurst’s bottom-placed reserves crashed 12-0 at home to Newark Flowserve in Division Two.

Skegby United were 2-1 winners at Arnold Celtic in the Notts Amateur Alliance Division Two.
