Former Notts County defender Stephen Hunt to coach youngsters in Blidworth

A children’s sports charity is opening a free Saturday morning coaching club in Blidworth.

Sports coaches will include former Notts County FC defender Stephen Hunt and alongside five-a-side football there will be cricket, rounders, table tennis, badminton and archery coaching on offer.

The Sporting HEARTS charity is funding ‘The BOPS Project,’ which will be hosted at Blidworth Oaks Primary school starting on Saturday 17th May for an initial eight week period.

Hunt said: “I am delighted to be an ambassador of the Sporting HEARTS charity and be involved in this project.

“Sport is a fantastic way to improve the confidence of youngsters and give them a goal in life, I would urge children in Blidworth to apply for a place and join in the fun.”

Since 2010 Sporting HEARTS has helped 305 youngsters across Nottinghamshire with tailored sports projects.

Through their work they aim to raise youngsters’ aspirations, improve attendance and attainment at school, reduce bullying and increase self-esteem, self-confidence, and tolerance.

The club will run each Saturday morning between 9.30am and 12.30pm. Places are limited to 30 and must be booked in advance. Other than in exceptional circumstances children will be expected to attend the full eight week course.

All children between five and eleven years-old are invited to apply for a place and the club is completely free-of-charge.
