Former Snipe ends up in Wrens’ nest

Evo-Stik League Division One South club Rainworth MW have welcomed former Sutton Town manager Dean Short onto their management team to assist player-manager Scott Rickards.

Short said: “It was too good an opportunity to turn down. Just like players, managers want to test themselves at the highest possible level.

“I can’t wait to start working with Scott, we share similar philosophies, and want to build a team of players who want to be here and who the fans can be proud of.”

The Wrens, who stage hold their annual meeting at the Kirklington Road ground at 7pm on Monday when anyone interested is invited to attend, are also on the lookout for a suitably qualified physio. The post would suit someone who is developing a career as a sports therapist or physiotherapist.

Pre-season training begins on Tuesday, 1st July, and the Wrens have arranged the following pre-season programme of fixtures:

JULY (all at home): 12th Shirebrook Town; 15th Teversal; 19th AFC Mansfield; 22nd Worksop Town; 26th Clay Cross Town; 29th Mansfield Town (for the Green Energy Challenge Trophy).

AUGUST: 2nd Clipstone (away). 9th TBA.

All Saturday kick-offs are 3pm and midweek 7.30pm.
