Yet another hat-trick by the amazing Luke Price helped LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES come from behind FOUR times in their latest Notts Senior League, First Division match.

Price, who fired three trebles on the bounce in November, took his tally for the season to 28 already as Linby drew 4-4 away to high-riding Netherfield Albion.

Netherfield, who had won their previous six games, including 3-0 at Linby last month, took a fifth-minute lead through Chris Kemp before veteran Darren Dickens netted the first equaliser seven minutes later.

On a dreadful Victoria Park pitch, Louis Tambling restored the home side’s advantage with a 35-yard lob. But fresh from his heroics with the first team in the county cup the previous Saturday, Price was soon stamping his mark on the game.

The striker made it 2-2 three minutes from the break, slotting past ‘keeper Steve Jones at the end of a wonderful solo run. And although Netherfield found time to net again on the stroke of half-time, courtesy of an unmarked Kemp, it was soon 3-3 as Price converted a penalty.

Just after the hour, Linby conceded another sloppy goal when James Leivers flicked a header over ‘keeper Glenn Guyatt. But to cap an afternoon of decent entertainment, they salvaged a point on 72 when Ant Wallis’s through-ball left man-of-the-match Price with a one-on-one that he finished by rounding Jones.

CONVINCING HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE RESERVES cruised into the quarter-finals of the Notts Senior League’s Junior Cup (won last season by Linby Reserves) with a 6-2 home victory over divisional rivals, South Normanton AFC Reserves.

Normanton had already done the double over Rolls in the league, and started the tie brightly. But poor finishing failed to make their domination count, and Rolls stormed back with a vengeance.

Twin strikers Andy Start and Matt Rick bagged two more goals apiece, and the rout was completed by substitute Doyle Hutchinson and impressive new signing James Canning.
