Fullarton urges Notts County players to find finishing touch

Notts County boss Jamie Fullarton wants his side to be more clinical in the final third.

The Magpies have failed to find the back of the net in their last four League Two fixtures, picking up a solitary point in that run - a goalless draw at home with Dagenham and Redbridge.

Back to back defeats have followed against Bristol Rovers and Yeovil meaning Fullarton’s side go in to tomorrow’s clash with Exeter City at Meadow Lane looking for a first win in more than a month.

Fullarton said: “We have created good chances, and it’s important you take them when you don’t take them.

“We have to be more clinical without it creating anxiety. It’s deflating that and making sure we stay in the game.

“It’s about controlling emotions. I won’t criticise anyone for missing chances, doesn’t mean I am happy about it.

“We have to try to encourage them to take advantage of those opportunities in future.”

The 1-0 loss to Yeovil, another team in the lower reaches in the table, was a particular disappointment for Fullarton.

“I don’t think it was just me who was disappointed with the result against Yeovil, but the players and staff together,” he said.

“The reaction this week is an understanding that we have to be better for our standards in what we are looking for.

“That’s the general consensus about us as a group. That’s what we have been working towards and training has been like that.

“We talk about environment a lot and it’s important that there is no blame culture.

“What we did against Yeovil on Saturday, it’s important we learn from it, educate and point the way forward.

“We don’t want it happening again.”
