Gee is the new Shirebrook manager following Watts sacking

Shirebrook Town, of the Toolsport Northern Counties East League Division One, have sacked manager Julian Watts and appointed former Rainworth MW boss Kevin Gee as his replacement.

Watts was sacked with immediate effect after the midweek 1-1 draw at Hemsworth Miners Welfare, a sixth game without victory, four of them defeats.

Gee was appointed with immediate effect and will be officially introduced to the club committee and playing squad at training tonight.

Mark Camm and Danny Bacon are staying on to assist him and his first game in charge will be the big local derby on Saturday against Clipstone.

Shirebrook president James Doody said: “The decision has not been an easy one for the club to take and both chairman Dan Marsh and me would like to thank Julian for his efforts and wish him every success in the future.

“Kevin has 25 years of management experience in the local area, most recently at Evo-Stik side Rainworth, and he will bring his undoubted enthusiasm, hard work, organisation and drive to the club.”
