GLAPWELL: Barratt injury sees Thorne game abandoned

In the opening stages, both sides played some good football, but it was the hosts that looked more likely in the final third.

Firstly, Ross Ebbage wasted a good chance when he headed straight at keeper Ryan Hopkins before Luke Rafferty fired wide at the near post from a corner.

Johnny Lugton and Ebbage, again, also had opportunities but they could only fire tamely at Hopkins.

Glapwell’s best chances, meanwhile, fell to Ash Barber, who fired over, and Josh Goodhand, who drilled an effort across goal which was parried just past the post by the home keeper.

After a goal-less first half, Thorne took the lead just before the hour in fortunate circumstances as Scott Marshall headed past Hopkins and into his own net.

Then, just three minutes later, it was two as a good move was finished when Scott Rhodes latched on to a through-ball before lifting over the onrushing Hopkins.

At the other end, Andrei Pykett was then slid in by Goodhand, but his weak shot was saved by the keeper.

However, the game ended prematurely on 77 minutes when Barratt was on the receiving end of a horror tackle that surprisingly only earned the offender a yellow card.

With an ambulance required, there was no other option than to abandon the match.

There was later good news that there was no leg break, although a further scan will be needed to determine if there is any ligament damage.
