Glapwell pick up point after solid fightback

Playing their first home game for 12 weeks, Glapwell had the first chance when Adam Seward headed down to Jordan Jones who hit a sweet half volley that flew just over from 25 yards.

Harworth took the lead, though, on 11 minutes when a ball played over the top was brought down by Makenzie Tomlinson who lifted the ball perfectly over the onrushing Ryan Hopkins from just outside the area.

Sam West wasted a big chance to double the visitors’ lead just two minutes later when he fired over before Tom Walker picked out Ross Taylor who found himself clean through but blazed his shot well over the bar.

A free-kick in a dangerous area was hit well over the bar by Gregg Archer while Glapwell could have gone into the break level but Rob Holland put his shot over after a good overlapping run following good work by Jack Weaver.

Glapwell were much-improved after the break, though, and were level on 54 minutes when Jack Weaver struck his first goal for the club at the second time of asking after he and Derrick Miller both saw shots blocked when the visitors had failed to deal with Carl Vickers’ free-kick.

Tom Pick then wasted a good chance for the visitors when he fired wide before Jordan Jones had all the time in the world but fired straight at Mark Latham after doing brilliantly to keep the ball alive.

In the closing stages, both sides went in search of a winner with Glapwell going close through Jack Weaver who shot just wide while Makenzie Tomlinson fired over right at the death from Tom Pick’s cut-back.
