Goals flow like water for AFC H2O

Goals were at Premium, but not at A premium, when Hucknall side AFC H2O ran riot in the NOTTS SUNDAY MORNING LEAGUE.

For H2O chalked up one of the biggest wins of the season with a 14-3 landlside in Premier Division Two.

There was little in the formlines of either side to suggest such an outcome was likely. But the Hucknall visitors were unstoppable in a goal feast led by Ben Waplington, who netted five.

Gary Richardson also collected a hat-trick, while Sean Williams scored two and Karl Hutchinson, Scott Anderson, Rory Smith and Craig Dowhan bagged one apiece.

The win cemented fourth place in the table for H2O, well ahead now of local rivals ATHLETICO T8’S, who slid to a 2-1 defeat at home to promotion-chasing MIS United.

Jamie Brown was on target for Athletico, but strikes from Brad Ellis and Adam Rowley won the points for the visitors.

A HAT-TRICK by Greg Mitchell helped BESTWOOD MINERS WELFARE erase the memory of their first defeat of the season the previous week.

Chasing the Senior Third Division title, Bestwood mauled Medina 8-1 to leave them nine points behind leaders The Castle Inn, whom they play this weekend, with four games in hand.

Rocky Bennett-Bull, David Donachie, Tremayne Bryan, Rhys Scotton and Reece Knight were also on the scoresheet.

IN THE NOTTS SUNDAY COMBINATION, Bulwell outfit MELLISH boosted their chances of finshing Premier Division runners-up with a 5-2 win at Bestwood Park.

Simon Cassidy (2), Ashley Chadwick (2) and Ricky Clayton shared the goals for Mellish, who are now closing in on second-placed Phoenix Athletic with games in hand.

However, the limitations of Hucknall side AFC ROLLS-ROYCE were exposed in the First Division when they fell 5-3 at home to championship-chasing FC Meadows.

Gaz Wainwright (2) and Josh Deakin hit the net for Rolls, but two from Jamie Carlton, a penalty from Tom Simpson, an own goal and a strike from Keiron Kenton sent Meadows to the top of the table.
