Half Moon fail to knock Queen Adelaide off throne

ANOTHER defeat for Half Moon.
ANOTHER defeat for Half Moon.

A slack start to the second half cost Hucknall strugglers, HALF MOON, dear as they returned to the Notts Sunday Morning League, Premier Premier Division action.

Taking on newly-promoted Nottingham outfit, Queen Adelaide, Moon were hopeful of starting the New Year with a rare win after defeating the same side 4-1 in the cup earlier this term. And they duly took the lead in their usual bright start when Lewis Severn pounced to slot home after the ‘keeper had spilled a long-range shot.

However, the visitors not only levelled through Justin Jenkins, they also surged into a 3-1 lead in the first 15 minutes of the second period when Danny Gee struck twice as Moon switched off.

Captain Matt Sisson gave the locals a lifeline by pulling it back to 3-2 15 minutes from time. But with Adelaide closing ranks, that’s how it stayed, although young substitute Luke Evans almost poked home a late leveller.

It was Moon’s ninth defeat in ten matches and kept them next to bottom in the table.
