Hat-tricks by player manager Reece ‘Raj’ Jackson and his brother-in-law striker Andy Start helped HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE RESERVES to the top of the Notts Senior League’s (NSL) First Division.
Jackson’s treble downed Magdala Amateurs 5-1 last Saturday, and followed Start’s threesome in a 4-2 win by his side at home to Newark Flowserve last midweek.
The boss opened the scoring from the penalty spot against Magdala after Matt Rick had been clumsily brought down. And although the visitors levelled, Rolls responded with an exhilarating second-half display.
Another foul on Rick led to a second penalty from Jackson, who then rose to head home an amazing cross by left-back Ross Lamb. Two neat finishes by Rick completed the rout.
Yet another spot-kick by Jackson soon gave Rolls the lead against Flowserve, who hit back with a penalty of their own, given away by Danny Tring, and then went 2-1 up early in the second half.
Enter Start with a quickfire treble, which took his career tally of NSL goals to 201.
