The longest established youth football club in Hucknall has secured a major sponsorship deal with one of the town’s most successful businesses.
HUCKNALL SPORTS YOUTH CLUB has joined forces with the Sandicliffe Ford new and used car dealership on Portland Road in a key agreement spanning three years and worth thousands of pounds.
“The funds will ensure that Hucknall Sports can maintain its outstanding reputation for delivering quality coaching for youngsters and outstanding facilities for all members,” said the club’s treasurer Nick Henrys. “The deal will also help us achieve our core objective of developing a greater number of young footballers in the locality.”
The club was founded, originally as Riden Sports, way back in the summer of 1977. It changed its name to Hucknall Sports in 1982 and has gone from strength to strength ever since, thanks to a stream of committed volunteers. Over the years, thousands of youngsters in the Hucknall area have played for the club and benefited from its coaching values.
“At present, we have 21 teams, from under-sevens to under-16s,” said Henrys. “Most of the teams play their home games at Goosedale, off Moor Road, but we hope that, in future, the club can make use of the facilities at the New Wigwam, which is planned for just off Papplewick Lane.
“The club is extremely proud to receive this significant sponsorship from Sandicliffe Ford and would like to thank all involved for their support. We hope this will be a very successful partnership for years to come.”
Paul Houghton, of Sandicliffe Ford, said: “We are a family-run organisation and have been selling and manitanining new and used vehicles in the region for more than 60 years. We are keen and proud to serve Hucknall and the surrounding communities.”
