The Yellows returned to training on 4th July and are doing weekly sessions on Saturdays until a date for the new season is confirmed.

And although the squad are only carrying out light training, Graves says the spirit is there for all to see.

“We are just in small groups, but in the circumstances it has gone well,” he said.

“To say we have not seen each other for three months, everybody was just the same - the spirit was there.

“It has been all along to be honest because we have been doing two Zoom fitness sessions a week in small groups.

“Everyone has been keeping in touch with people in their group and I’ve been keeping in touch as well.

“It was a bit different but it was good to be back and having people together again. After the first 10-15 minutes of being back, every got into the swing of it and it is just like normal.

“I was happy with the squad and we needed a couple of editions. There were a couple of new lads at the first session who will be pushing to be part of our plans.

There were seven new lads together at the first session and they looked bright.

“Obviously we can’t do any contact, but we are pleased with how it's going.

“We don’t know when we are starting yet so that is why we won’t go twice a week.

“We have had talks with Selston, Carlton and Linby regarding friendlies, but these are all dates at the moment - you can only say yes when you know when the season starts.”

Graves added that approval for Hucknall Town’s potential new ground appears to be high amongst the general public.

The stadium application is set to be discussed by Ashfield District COuncil planning chiefs, with indications via the application portal showing it is proving popular.

“Hopefully it will get passed and the council will see the benefits of it,” he added.

“It is out of our hands but I know there is a high percentage in favour. There are some concerns over the road situation but I expect that will get alleviated.”
