Flying starts to the new Young Elizabethan League season were made last weekend by HUCKNALL WARRIORS UNDER-12S RED, HUCKNALL SPORTS UNDER-12S (Saturday) and HUCKNALL SPORTS UNDER-12S WHITE (Sunday).
Warriors twice came from behind to win 4-2 away to Toton Tigers Orange in the 11-a-side division thanks to goals from Joe Gillan, Jack Bradley, Camryn Walker and Connor Smith.
Toton tapped home the opener, after a defensive mix-up, and a wind-assisted own goal from Regan Evans, smashed into the top corner, later put them 2-1 up.
But each time, Warriors responded well as Gillan struck from close range after a miskick in the home backline and Bradley knocked home a perfect through-ball from Henry Dilley.
The second half belonged to Warriors, with Walker firing a low, diagonal shot through a crowded area to give them the lead and Smith blasting home to seal the points.
Two crucial saves in a matter of seconds by goalkeeper David Hurry capped a fine performance.
Sports Under-12s Red enjoyed a comfortable 7-0 triumph away to Gedling Southbank in the Saturday Third Division.
With new signings adding strength and stability to the team, they produced a terrific performance.
Cam Vickers fired a hat-trick, Ethan Fells netted two and a goal apiece from Darnel Beeson and Josh Tomlinson completed the scoring.
Some quality passing and finishing was complemented by a clean sheet on his debut for goalkeeper Jay Wilby, who made some fine saves.
Sports Under-12s White celebrated a comprehensive 5-0 victory at home to Beeston Centurions Orange in the Sunday Second Division.
After dominating the early exchanges, they took the lead through Mitchell West, who doubled the lead with a sweet left-footer.
Two stunning long-range efforts from man-of-the-match Connor Smith made the game safe before Ben Ward added a fifth goal to round off an excellent performance.
