Mansfield striker Danny Rose is hoping to catch up with everyone else and be fit for the start of the season as he tries to recover from a toe injury sustained near the end of last season.
“I had a second injection into it on 20th June just before I went on holiday,” he said from the team’s week-long Portugal training camp.
“I am a little bit behind fitness wise, so it’s now important to get in as many sessions as I can. I am playing a bit of catch-up and hopefully these sessions will get me there.”
He added: “I did it in the Port Vale game after landing a bit funny. I tried playing on it and obviously that aggravated it a bit. But the injections have done it a world of good.
“I am hoping to get on the pitch with the lads in the next week and get back to training.
“The facilities here have everything and are very good.
“It’s going to be a very tough week – it always is – and the management are very big on fitness.
