A solitary goal by leading scorer Jack Bradley was enough to send HUCKNALL WARRIORS UNDER-13S RED into the semi-finals of the Young Elizabethan League’s Saturday Trophy.
Bradley struck just before the interval as unbeaten Third Division leaders Warriors edged out Second Division Arnold Town Yellow 1-0 in a hard-fought tie.
Kian Williams also had an early goal disallowed for offside, and further chances fell to Joe Gillan, Camryn Walker and Curtis Rigley. Penalty appeals were rejected when man-of-the-match Lewis Radford seemed to be pulled down -- before a nervy last ten minutes when Arnold forced two fine saves out of goalkeeper David Hurry.
IN A must-win game to keep alive their hopes of the runners-up spot, HUCKNALL SPORTS UNDER-11S WHITE beat Breaston 2-1 in the Saturday Second Division of the Young Elizabethan League.
With man-of-the-match Jayden Goodman causing havoc on the right-wing, Sports took the lead with a cracking header by Jack Harrison from a corner by Sam O’Hanlon, who was then brought down for a free-kick that Jordan Brown rocketed home.
Poor decisions by the linesman prevented more goals before Breaston pulled one back.
