The top three teams are beginning to break away from the rest of the pack after another entertaining week in the HUCKNALL MONDAY NIGHT SIX-A-SIDE LEAGUE.

Defending champions Abu Dhabi, Naughty America and Baywatch Babes have suffered only one defeat between them in the first seven weeks of the campaign and look sure to be fighting it out for the title.

Abu Dhabi stretched their 100% record with a 7-1 hammering of Heaton Sports, which was inspired by a man-of-the-match performance by Jack Walker.

They now face a mouthwatering clash this coming Monday with second-placed Naughty America, who are the only other side in The Leisure Leagues competition yet to taste defeat this term.

In their latest fixture, the Naughty boys overcame Team 316 3-2 after a close contest. It was their sixth straight victory, with the man-of-the-match award going to Jack Paterson.

Baywatch remain only two points off the top after maintaining their impressive form with a 5-0 eclipse of K.F.C. Star man on the night was Babes’ hotshot James Stokes.

The highlight of the rest of the week’s action was provided by fourth-placed Asian Persuasion, who went goal crazy against bottom-of-the-table Tea And Busquets. The underdogs battled until the final whistle, but Asian were clinical in front of the net and celebrated a 10-0 romp.

It was much tighter in the remaining two fixtures. The Groomsmen edged past Wa1tz D1sn3y 3-1 thanks largely to a man-of-the-match performance by Matt Jameson, while nothing could separate mid-table duo Warriors and Newstead, who shared a 1-1 draw in a high-tempo encounter. Star billing went to Spencer Macauley, of Warriors.

The season continues every Monday night at The National Academy on Annesley Road until the end of April, which equates to 15 more sets of matches. The title race might even be decided on the last night when Abu Dhabi take on Baywatch Babes.
