Lester back to look after the Wrens

Lester returns to his role of physio, which he left in season 2012-13, to succeed Tom Hallas who has moved on to newly-promoted Premier Division neighbours Belper Town.

Also joining the Nailers from the Wrens is goalkeeper James Martin, who was an ever-present for the Kirklington Road side last season and was regarded by many as the best goalkeeper in the division.

Pre-season training has been going well although, along with Martin, other absentees from last season are skipper Callum Lloyd and striker Ashley Longstaff.

Rainworth, who have given trials to an encouraging number of hopefuls, will not be naming any new players until they put pen to paper, but fans can get a taste of who is likely to figure next season when they play their first pre-season match on Saturday (3pm) at home to Shirebrook Town. This is followed on Tuesday (7.30pm) by a visit from Teversal.

The FA Cup and Trophy draws have provided a mixed bag for the Wrens.

In the preliminary round of the FA Cup the Wrens will be at home to the winners of the extra preliminary round tie between Staveley MW and Worksop Town, both now plying their trade in the Northern Counties East Premier Division.

Should they progress, they would face an away tie at either Evo-Stik Division One South rivals Mickleover Sports, East Midlands Counties League champions Thurnby Nirvana, now promoted to the United Counties Premier Division, or NCEL Division One side Lincoln Moorlands Railway, who were relegated from the Premier Division at the end of last season.

However, the Wrens face a long trip to Market Drayton Town in the preliminary round of the Trophy, where at stake will be a home first qualifying round tie against Premier Division Kings Lynn Town.
