Linby get biggest win in six years

Linby recorded their biggest win for six years after a 7-1 victory over Arnold in the CMFL Premier South.

They made a sluggish start to the match and fell behind on eight minutes after Harry Warwick picked up on a loose ball to score from the edge of the area.

But they came back into the game and levelled on 23 minutes thanks to a curling Sean Craven free-kick.

Warwick hit the post on 25 minutes, before Linby defender Ben Jones saw an header from a corner well saved by Jake Allen-Berresford in the Arnold goal.

The host hit the front on 30 minutes after James Hallam turned well and fired his low shot into the bottom corner.

Craven thundered a header against the bar on 38 minutes as Linby stepped up the pressure.

They carried on where they left off after the break and made it three on 48 minutes when Brad Newby beat two men, before being tripped in the box after a one-two with Craven.

Newby got up and dispatched the penalty , with aplomb, into the bottom corner.

Kurt Harrison smashed a wonderful volley into the top corner on the hour mark, before Hallam made it five a minute later after a self-less pass from Craven.

Hallam bagged his hat-trick with six minutes to go after a perfect pass from Newby carved open the defence.

The scoring was complete a minute from time when Hallam got his forth when Newby’s corner wasn’t cleared.
