Just when LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES looked set to mount a serious bid for the top three in the Notts Senior League’s First Division, their form deserted them.
A resurgent run of four wins on the bounce was brought to an end by a surprise 3-0 defeat at home to Netherfield Albion, who began the day well below them in the table.
Trailing 1-0 from the opening minute to a strike by James Crawford, Linby dominated possession and created enough chances to have won the game, with man-of-the-match midfielder Aaron Potter in particularly inspired form. However, they failed to take any.
In contrast, rapidly-improving Netherfield cashed in on their openings and sealed their third consecutive victory with a couple of goals on the counter-attack in the second half.
