Football fans keen to take in a local, domestic match during the Christmas festivities will be spoilt for choice this year.
For three of the four Hucknall and Bulwell sides have home matches in the Central Midlands League’s (CML) South Division.
What’s more, they do not clash with games being staged by the county’s professional clubs.
Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Mansfield Town are all in action on both Boxing Day (Friday 26th December) and the following Sunday (28th December).
But Hucknall Town, Bulwell, Linby Colliery Welfare and Hucknall Rolls Leisure stage their Christmas games on Saturday 27th December, so they hope to cash in with bigger crowds than usual.
Town play Holbrook St Michael’s at Watnall Road, Linby are at home to high-flying Belper United and Rolls entertain near-neighbours Eastwood Community, who are partly owned by popular former Rolls-Royce Leisure Club guru Brian Willows. Bulwell are away, but have an attractive fixture against reigning league champions Clifton All Whites.
The CML also hosts a full programme of matches on the Saturday before Christmas (20th December).
