Magpies fight hard in defeat to table-toppers Wollaton

Despite some excellent passing football, Notts County Ladies development squad reserves were beaten 3-1 by league leaders Wollaton in the Notts Ladies League, leaving them nothing to show for their efforts.

County’s goal came after great work from Jessie Knott and Rhiannon Middleton enabled Katrina Bloomer to fire the ball into the back of the net.

The most disappointment thing for the hosts was the concession of the three goals.

County battled so hard, with Jade Zoe Benniston and Ellie Marriott immense in defence along with Jade Sheppard in midfield.

The second half was a demonstration of determination from player of the match Charley MacLaren and keeper Chelsea Taylor who was unlucky with the goals and went home with a bruise following a kick in the face.

The loss has dropped the team to third and second place now is their realistic target, albeit it will require some big results.
