The 20-year-old - who currently plays for Melbourne Victory in the Australian W-League - will join up with her new team-mates after the conclusion of the season down under.

Friend has enjoyed a successful season so far for The Victory, who have already secured a semi-final spot.

The striker has found the net seven times in Melbourne’s 10 games, elevating them to second in the league table.

Friend is excited at the prospect of playing at Notts County and she said: “I’ve heard quite a lot about Notts County and the set up they’ve got.

“It sounds like one of the most organised and professional structures out there.”

“A few of my team mates here in Melbourne have played in England and they’ve spoken about the high standard of football.

“I just want to play football at a high standard all year round and I’ve only heard great things about the Super League.”

First team manager Rick Passmoor is delighted to be able to bring Friend over from Australia and added: “Caitlin has been scoring goals for fun in the W-League, which is a great standard, so we’re hoping she can come over here and continue that scoring form.

“She’s a great talent, and at such a young age, Caitlin is an exciting prospect and under full time training here at Notts she will thrive and only get even better.

“We wish Melbourne Victory all the best for the rest of the season, and hopefully they can go on, get to the final, and win the league.

“If Caitlin could get the goals to help them there, even better!”
