Mansfield Town announce pre-season tour of Portugal

Mansfield Town will head to Amendoeira, Portugal, for an intensive week of pre-season training in July.

As part of a move by boss David Flitcroft to further strengthen links between the senior team and academy, Mansfield Town’s youth team will also travel to the same destination for part of the same week.

Boss David Flitcroft told the club’s official website www.mansfieldtown.net: “The week’s training camp will give us the opportunity to work on base-level fitness which is the foundation to having a successful season, as well as instilling attacking and defensive principles into our squad.

“The environment enables us to have 24 hour control of the players as we prepare them physically and mentally in every aspect: technical, tactical, physical and social.

“As part of the club’s long term vision, it is important that the first team and youth team are intrinsically linked. This training camp gives us the perfect opportunity to begin this process.

“We will further instil Mansfield Town’s values into our players in a clear, defined and open way, so everyone knows exactly what is expected of them.”

The first team will participate in a friendly fixture on Saturday 7th July at a time and venue to be confirmed.

The youth team will play in a friendly on Wednesday 4th July, at a time and venue to be confirmed.

An open first-team training session can also be watched by supporters travelling to Portugal, with further details to be announced in due course.
