Brian Jensen 8 – Once again solid a rock and got down well to make three crucial saves to thwart Graham Carey.

Mal Benning 7 – Looked good going forward again and caused problems with set pieces.

Krystian Pearce 9 – His best showing in a Stags shirt so far. Made it look easy at times with his anticipation. Would have been harsh if a penalty had been awarded against him in the second half when the ball struck his hand with his back to a cross.

Ryan Tafazolli 8 – Another superb showing from the centre half. His partnership with Pearce has now helped Mansfield to the second best goals against tally in League Two.

Lee Collins 6 – Looked rusty as hell and out of position for much of the first half. But he played his way into it, kept his cool, and eventually did well, producing an important tackle that had the fans cheering him.

Mitch Rose 7 – Came closest to scoring when denied in a one-on-one. Did well against some superb opposition, but his late booking has left him facing a one game ban in which he can recharge that excellent engine. One tough tackle really got the home fans going.

Adam Chapman 7 – Twice he came close to unlocking this tight Plymouth defence. His through ball for Rose after some positive approach play gave Stags their best chance while he also set Matt Green on his way with a long ball forward.

Nathan Thomas 7 – Enjoyed his outing against his former employers, drilling a low shot right across the face of their goal. Showed the other side of his game with a crunching tackle too.

Jack Thomas 6 – The teenager ran his heart out but this was a classy midfield battle and his lack of match action left him unable to make the telling impact he did last season.

Matt Green 6 – Few real chances against a good defence, he showed anticipation and invention to rob Peter Hartley and try to chip Luke McCormick. Fired another shot well over.

Craig Westcarr 6 – As with Matt Green, few chances against the Argyle rearguard, though he wasn’t too far wide in first half stoppage time.

Subs used: Adi Yussuf (for Westcarr on 52mins) 6 – Had one real chance when he turned Matty Blair’s near post cross wide, but otherwise struggled to make an impact.

Matty Blair for Nathan Thomas on 78mins) 7 – Highlight of the afternoon was the emotional reception given to Blair as he ran on after eight months out injured. He responded with a trademark burst to the by-line and firm, low cross that Adi Yussuf put wide.

Reggie Lambe for Jack Thomas on 57mins) 6 – Livelier than of late but unable to produce a telling moment to unpick Argyle.

Subs not used: Shearer, Marsden, McGuire, Fitzpatrick.
