said: “That was a point gained in very difficult conditions.

“We went a goal up but then conceded a sloppy goal. We didn’t defend a throw-in well enough and the ball has squirmed in the corner.

“It was a difficult one to take but still a point gained.

“We said because of the conditions it was important to get the ball wide and into the area and for a forward to try to get a touch and that’s what Jay (Simpson) did.

“It was a great finish and a good ball in from Jobi (McAnuff).

“We expected Mansfield to have a go, which they did, but Alex (Cisak) hasn’t had too much to do. It was a scrappy game and the boys dug in in horrible conditions.

“There weren’t many clear-cut chances in the game at either end.

“We had a fantastic following today in terrible weather and I am disappointed we couldn’t get the win for them.”

Orient now have an FA Cup replay to focus on with a tie at Premier League giants Chelsea for the winners at stake.

“Now we can focus on the FA Cup replay at Scunthorpe,” he said. “That’s the next game. We had put it on the back-burner but now we can concentrate on it.

“There is a big prize but we have got to beat Scunthorpe first. Any celebrations can only come after the game (if we win it). We are not there yet.

“There is a great carrot there that is dangling and it is a great motivation for the players. We will go to Scunthorpe as underdogs, they are a League One team.”
