Mansfield Town boss hopes to bring in new faces ahead of York City

Cox brought in loan striker Daniel Carr from Huddersfield Town on Tuesday and hopes to dip into loan market once again in the next 48 hours.

“We have better news on Kieron Freeman, who will be out for between one and two weeks with a medial ligament injury.

“The injuries seem to be endless at the moment, I have not seen anything like it as a manager.

“I have been analysing the situation and wondering if it is something we are doing in training, but it is just one of those things. The injuries are just circumstances.

“It is shocking at the moment, we thought we were coming through this period of injuries.

“But that is part and parcel of football and there is no point in feeling sorry for ourselves.

“We just have to get on with things. We need manage this situation with damage limitation to pick up as many points and as many wins as we can before Christmas and kick on when people return.”

“I will not be bringing back players until we know that they are 100 per cent fit.

“The chairman has been very good in helping us manage this situation. We need to bring bodies in, but we need to get the right players in who will improve us.”

Matt Rhead, Ollie Palmer and Liam Hearn are all currently on the treatment table, leaving Stags struggling in the striking department.

Luke Jones has also been ruled out for the rest of the season, while Chris Clements is still out injured.

Midfielders Simon Heslop and Fergus Bell have both had injections to help them play through the pain barrier in recent games.
