Mansfield Town given Chris Clements injury boost

Mansfield Town were given a massive boost today on the eve of their trip to Stevenage with the news that midfield ace Chris Clements’ groin strain is not as bad as first feared.

When he limped off nine days ago at Luton, it was expected he would be out for up to two months.

But the injury has shown such fast improvement that he could be back within a fortnight.

“We’ve had some good news on Clem,” smiled boss Adam Murray this morning.

“It’s not as bad as we expected. So we are hoping to get him back into the fold in a shorter space of time than we were anticipating.

“The initial look, his symptoms, we thought it was going to be six to eight weeks. But, like he has before with every injury he has had, he is a quick healer and he is a good few weeks in front of where we thought he would be already.

“So we are looking at getting him back in the next couple of weeks.”
