Assistant manager Murray said 22-year-old Studer had impressed on and off the field during his trial period and said: “I think he is going to be a very clever signing.

“We have had him in for a couple of weeks and seen him on a day-to-day basis. So we know his character and attitude.

“We looked at him technically, how he was with the lads and we have also seen him in game situations. So we are chuffed to bits to have him on board.

“He is technically excellent. Once the fans get to see him a bit closer they will get to see how he handles the ball is different class.

“He is also a character who is not scared to bark at his back three or back four which was a big thing for us. He can orchestrate his defence.

“He is still a young lad which was also a massive part for us as we can work with him and mould him into what we want. And the biggest thing is that he is ours.”

But Murray confirmed Studer would be the only senior keeper on the books for now.

“With the squad we’ve had to put together and the budget we’ve worked with we can only fit one goalkeeper in at the moment,” he said.

“But we do have a young lad called Adam Bishop, who has come through our youth set-up. He was U16s last year and we have now taken him on as a first year apprentice scholarship.

“He has only just left school but, with having no other keeper here, he has stepped up and is training with us. The lad has definitely got potential and will be with us for the foreseeable future.”
