Reggie Lambe break will do him good, says Mansfield Town boss Adam Murray

Adam Murray believes winger Reggie Lambe’s two week break from starting for Mansfield Town will do the winger a world of good.

Ahead of tonight’s game at Stevenage, Murray revealed that Lambe was one of the players suffering from a virus last week, having already started to look jaded.

“Credit to them, we had a couple that didn’t train last week, but because of our numbers being low they came in. Reggie was one and when he came on Saturday I thought he was excellent,” said Murray.

“He’s had a two-week break out of it as we thought he needed freshening up. He went last year from not playing any League football to getting chucked straight in when I took over, and had a big part in us staying in the League.

“The season finished and he went away on international duties so he’s not had a break which has caught up with him a bit. So the two-week break we’ve given him out of the firing line, he looks back to himself and he looks fresh. When he came on Saturday he did superb.”

He added: “That’s something we’ve got to be careful of. We’ve got people like Nathan Thomas, Mitch Rose, Reggie Lambe, Matt Green, these type of people who didn’t play football last year. They are straight into the mix now and for those kind of players it’s going to take
