Ronnie Moore disappointed with Hartlepool second half showing at Mansfield

After being gifted a way back into the game, Hartlepool United boss Ronnie Moore was disappointed with his side’s second half showing in yesterday’s 3-1 defeat at Mansfield Town.

Trailing 1-0, an own goal by Krystian Pearce put the visitors back in the hunt before the home side took control and deservedly ran out winners with something to spare.

“It is frustrating. We were chalk and cheese again,” said Moore.

“We were back in the game at 1-1. Then the goals we gave away, they’ve not even had to work for them. I’m not saying they are not trying, bit where was the passion and desire?

“I said at half-time that if ever there was a game there to be won, this was it. But you can’t play for them.

“We just needed a bit more quality in the right areas but we never started second half. We couldn’t get out.

“Their second was a good finish but you say okay let’s go again. But we never got out of second gear and that’s what annoys me.”

Moore added: “If a wonder goal was enough to win it then fine. But not the third goal. It was too easy. We don’t get chances like that. At the minute we’ve got strikers who don’t want to score.

“We’ve put enough balls to get back into the game but no one has been there to get on the end of them.

“We need to play with a bit of confidence. We’ve won two games so you’d think they’d come here and really put them under a bit of pressure.

“The game is about 90 minutes, not 45. If you can’t win it, then don’t lose.”
