Stags striker Oliver wants to put record straight after Bury defeat

The Stags were sunk by a scrappy 21st minute free kick and then accused by manager Adam Murray afterwards of ‘complacency’ and ‘strolling around’.

“You could see near the end we were just pumping it forward, trying to get something, But it was just one of those days,” said Oliver. “It was frustrating. We just couldn’t get over the line.

“We need to get something out of it. We won at their place so we have no fear of them and know we are capable of beating them.

“We have to get at them straight from the off and not play like we did in the first half today. We can’t afford these slow starts.

“You have games like today when you don’t have chances and you don’t have the rub of the green.

“But you still need to put in 100 per cent and the gaffer has questioned if we did that today.”

He added: “In the first half we didn’t get out of first gear. Against a team like Bury that’s not something you can afford to do as they are a good side.

“In the second half we put them on the back foot and if we’d started like that it could have been a different game.”
