Mark Cooper wants to give Notts County fans a lift at Mansfield Town

Notts County manager Mark Cooper wants to give the travelling fans something to smile about when his side face Mansfield Town.

The Magpies visit the One Call Stadium to face their near neighbours on Saturday (1pm KO) buoyed by consecutive wins.

And Cooper said: “It would be nice to give the fans something to smile about. They’ve been really good since I’ve been here.

“It would be good to give them a lift and a good result against Mansfield would do that.

“They will be coming in their numbers and you always want your fans’ backing away from home – they always seem to be louder.

“I am sure it will be a really good atmosphere.”

On the game against the Stags, Cooper added: “However they want to play the game you have to match that.

“Off the back of that when we get the chance to, we have to do what we do because if not, then you are not playing to your strengths.

“That’s certainly what we will do.

“There will be spells when we will be out of possession and Mansfield will try to play as well.

“They have some good technical players and I think it should be a good game.

“We understand it’s a local derby, but it won’t change the way we do things.

“We will have to be at the top of our game to get something.”
