Two teams from the Dispatch district are lining up serious bids for promotion after another successful day in the Senior Second Division of the Notts Sunday Morning League.
THE NABB INN, of Hucknall, sit third in the table after a 6-2 thumping of Bridgford Taverners. And just two places and a couple of points behind them are newly-promoted BESTWOOD MINERS WELFARE after a fine 2-1 victory away to fellow high-fliers, AFC Gedling.
Nabb’s runaway triumph was their seventh in ten matches this term, and was achieved by two goals from Nick Clayton and one apiece from Shane Brown, Ryan Cotterill, Sean Monk and Dom Masotano. Replying for Bridgford were Mark Poyser and Gavin Mellors.
Bestwood’s match was tighter, but they made it six wins from eight matches since coming up from the Third Division, courtesy of an own goal and a strike by Adam Price-Henson. Gedling’s goal was netted by Scott Cutforth.
Both teams have valuable games in hand on leaders Carlton Top Spot Reserves. They are set to face each other in an eagerly-awaited local derby on Sunday 1st February at Nabbs Lane in Hucknall.
