New boys Ravenshead chasing third spot

Ravenshead are still in with a chance of clinching third spot in their first season in the Midland Amateur Alliance Premier Division after Callum Disley’s first half goal, together with a Jordan Phillips second half goal, went unanswered by AFC Farnsfield.

Southwell City IIII got back to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Kirkby Athletic thanks to a Will Graves double and a goal from Ieuan Plume while Athletic netted a consolation goal as well as completing the City tally.

The second back-to-back fixture between Trent Vineyard and FC Coopers enabled TV to earn a point by coming back from 3-1 down and end up with a 3-3 draw.

Matt Lake claimed a double for TV with Mike Plant their other marksman while Daniel Morgan, after netting a goal last week for Coopers against TV, went two better by claiming a hat-trick.

Derbyshire Amateurs slipped to a 1-1 draw against Alvaston United and at the same time damaged their chances of claiming the Division One title.

Long term favourites, AFC South Wingfield 93, remain three points behind the leaders with two games in hand. Jon Fairbrother did the damage for United whilst Mark Hosker replied for Amateurs.

Travel problems left a much weakened Bridon AFC to face a rampant Old Elizabethans II outfit, who were fresh from a 4-0 midweek victory over Bilborough United Reserves.

James Prentice plundered five of OEs’ nine goals with Dean Reddington claiming a hat-trick and Kieron Harris completing the tally.

OEs’ opponents in this Thursday’s Notts FA Minor Cup Final at the Hosiery Mills Ground, Sutton Travellers, are also showing good form after defeating Bilborough United Reserves 4-1 thanks to goals from Chris Draycott, Darren Hinks and Martin Willoughby, who netted a double, while Simon Cassidy replied for Bilborough. Meanwhile a hard fought game between Old Bemrosians and Ashfield required just a solitary goal for Bems in order to claim all three points.
