For the second week running, Glapwell fell to an undeserved CML North Division defeat against Newark Town as, this time despite taking a second minute lead through Josh Parfitt, they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Station Road.
Glapwell went in front on two minutes when James Whitfield broke clear and his shot was parried into the path of Josh Parfitt who tapped home from six yards out.
Glapwell controlled much of the first period and had further chances to extend their lead but Parfitt, James Whitfield and Jason Foster all went close.
The home side didn’t really create anything in the first half as Glapwell went into the break in front.
The second goal was always going to be key, though, but unfortunately it never arrived despite further chances as Parfitt blazed a shot high over the bar before James Whitfield was denied by the keeper.
Glapwell were dealt a major sucker punch, though, as the home side levelled from the penalty spot after James Munson was brought down and Alex Hales slotted the spot kick home.
Three minutes later, Newark were in front when a cross from the left was headed home by Reece Self, who like last week, would prove to be the matchwinner.
Glapwell had 20 minutes to respond but never really looked like getting themselves back in it with the closest they went coming through James Whitfield, whose volley was well saved by the keeper.
So, despite controlling much of the game, they were again left with nothing to show for it.
