Striker Adam Parkinson was the hero of a thrilling victory for Hucknall side, THE NABB INN, to reach the quarter-finals of the Notts Sunday Morning League’s Senior Section Cup.
Parkinson plundered a hat-trick as Nabb squeezed past divisional rivals Top Valley 4-3 at the end of a Third Round tie that swung this way and that.
The visitors were on top in the first half and deservedly took the lead through Simon Bedding. But Parkinson’s first two goals gave the Hucknall team the advantage at the break.
In an exciting second period, both Kiley Henry and Michael Allen struck levellers for Top Valley -- in between a Jason Parkinson goal for Nabb. And then Adam Parkinson completed his treble with the winner.
Nabb will be joined in the last eight by BESTWOOD MINERS WELFARE, who coasted to a routine 4-0 victory away to Kingswell Rangers, who are bottom of the same division.
Goals from Craig Dawson, Dave Donachie, Greg Mitchell and Ryan Mitchell ensured a comfortable passage for unbeaten Bestwood.
IN THE Notts Sunday Combination, top-of-the-table EMPIRE suffered a rare slip-up when held to a 3-3 draw by third-placed Phoenix Athletic in the Premier Division.
Jon Manders, Alan Pallett and Marcus Newman were all on target for the Bulwell side, only for Phoenix to peg them back.
Also in the top flight, LORD NELSON crashed to a 6-2 defeat against Sycamore St Ann’s, despite a brace from Mark Thornloe.
The Sycamore scorers were Clayton Carty (3), Reece Campbell, Lewis Thompson and Raheem Gordon.
