The former Torquay United centre half joins defenders Mal Benning and Lee Collins in signing new deals today on top of previous announcements about goalkeeper Brian Jensen and midfielders Jamie McGuire, Mitchell Rose and Jack Thomas.

Pearce made 36 Sky Bet League Two starts during the 2015-16 campaign where he showcased both his defensive ability and his calmness in possession.

After putting pen-to-paper on his new contract, Pearce described his pleasure at securing his future for next season.
“I’m just happy to be signing again because I believe in the squad and what the gaffer’s (Adam Murray) trying to do here,” Pearce said.
“Obviously the gaffer’s always said to me that I’m a big part of his plans which is obviously a major reason why I want to be here next season.

“In fact, even the chairman said to me after one of the games that he wants me to be here next season so that was always good to hear from the chairman and the gaffer.”
The 26-year-old has enjoyed working under boss Adam Murray and hopes that the squad develop further under his guidance next season.
Said Pearce: “He’s a very good coach and obviously he’s had a whole new group and he’s made them mould quite quickly and as you’ve seen, we’ve all thrived under him, so it’s only going to be even better next season.”

The new deal is subject to Football League approval and will start from July 1 2016.
