AS Plant grow their perfect MAA record with derby win

After Ravenshead pressure had resulted in an own goal, two goals from James Prudence and James McCann in as many minutes saw Plant establish a 2-1 half-time lead although their keeper’s fine save prevented a certain equaliser.

An evenly fought second half produced a final 3-1 scoreline with Stefan Wight’s goal on 80 minutes effectively ending Ravenshead’s hopes of a point. An Oliver Watson double and goals from Rob Brown, Sean Butler and Harry Napier for Southwell City III went unanswered by Trent Vineyard.

This 5-0 victory enabled City to replace Ravenshead in fourth place.

Troy Bladen’s solitary goal for AFC Farnsfield was sufficient for his side to double their victory tally at the expense of Rainworth Rangers.

There was huge disappointment for Derbyshire Amateurs, who went down to their first defeat of the season at the hands of second placed Wollaton III, who were 5-3 victors, despite conceding goals from Bradley Scard, Ryan Andrew and Mark Hosker.

Old Elizabethans II retained third spot with a 10-0 trouncing of Ashfield FC who now languish at the foot of the table.

James Prentice was chief marksman with a hat-trick, while Mike Bollington and Matthew Briggs both claimed doubles with Kieron Harris, Jack Spencer and Andy Brock making up the tally.

An even bigger score line resulted when Sutton Travellers were 12-2 victors against Sunnydale, who were hit by six goals from Liam Dury, a hat-trick from Nathan Atkins and a double from Gareth Brown whilst Iain Roe completed the total.

Magdala Amateurs Reserves slipped up against Bridon AFC, whose goals featured a Nicky Spires double with Robert Stamps and Jack Grinwood also contributing to their 5-0 victory.

Bilborough United Reserves went down by the odd goal in five to Old Bemrosians, whose three goals consisted of a Jon Goodwin double and a goal from Ben Leah while Bilborough’s reply came from David Lowe and Dane Chapman.

Southwell City IV no longer hold the wooden spoon after sharing four goals with Alvaston United after goals from Callum Cossey and Aaron Muncherji for United were answered by Joe Garrett and Mark Gratton.
