Promotion road will still be a tough one for Hucknall

Despite the promotion of chief rivals Eastwood Community and Sherwood Colliery, Hucknall Town manager Andy Graves does not believe the CML South will be any easier to get out of this coming season.

“Obviously Sherwood have now also been promoted so that’s one hurdle less, though there will probably be another 12 or 13 hurdles. It will still be tough and we still don’t know our league’s constitution as yet.

“Appeals are going on at other leagues so we can’t finalise ours.

“At the end of the day we know Pinxton are going to be in there, we know Blidworth are going to be in there, we know Mickleover RBL, we know Hilton and all the other good teams from last season will be in there, so it’s not going to be easy.

“It’s whether the new teams like Underwood Villa and Ashland Rovers come in. And obviously we assume Mickleover Sports are coming down into our league as that’s why Sherwood went up, but you never know.

“We have to look after ourselves basically. People will say it’s going to be easy – but it won’t be.

“You don’t know how strong Mickleover Sports will be coming down. They are only changing places from playing at a higher level.

“Hilton looked strong towards the end of the season, as did Blidworth.

“To be honest we have the same chance as we had last year. There are no gimmes in this league and there is only one definite promotion place.

“I have heard the rumours that Pinxton think they have already won it. That’s great if so. We will give everyone the respect they deserve as you can come unstuck.

“I think we will have a better squad and a stronger squad.

“But we won’t be up against Sherwood. Congratulations to them, I think they did deserve to go up. Good luck to Eastwood as well.”
